The temperature varies between 23°c and 33°c during summer (November to April) and between 17°c and 23°c during winter (May to October). The sea temperature varies between 22°c and 27°c during summer months.

The main spoken languages are French, English and Creole although English is the official language.
Culture
Mauritius inherits of a rich cultural heritage, real fusion of European, African and Asian cultures. These cultures are reflected in our cuisine in traditional Indian or Chinese dishes, or our very own Mauritian traditional recipes. Different religions (Hinduism, Christianity, Islam and Buddhism) co-exist peacefully. The Sega, of African origin, is the typical Mauritian dance and music.

The national currency is the Mauritian Rupee (Rs.). Change counters are available at the airport and at the hotel. Foreign currency notes, drafts, travellers cheques and other banking instruments may be carried to Mauritius without restriction.

Visitors must hold a valid travel document, valid return or onward tickets to their country of origin or residence, sufficient funds to meet the costs of their stay, confirmed booking for accommodation in Mauritius and be eligible to re-enter their country of origin or residence. No visas are required to come to Mauritius if you hold a passport from Australia, France, South Africa, Germany, Spain, UK, United States of America and a number of other countries.
